Affordable Care Act (ACA) Plans
These plans are subsidized and more commonly known as The Marketplace or Obamacare. Most major carriers will offer plans through the Marketplace at a reduced rate if you qualify for a subsidy based on demographic information.
Carrier Direct Plans
If you do not qualify for a subsidy, or do not wish to have your health insurance through the Marketplace, a Carrier direct health insurance plan is a great alternative and might offer a cost savings.
Short-Term Health Plans
Short-term health plans act as a bridge between permanent health plans. Per Michigan law, you can enroll in short-term health insurance for no more than 4 months in a 12-month period. These plans don’t cover preventative care or pre-existing conditions.
Health Share Plans
Health Share plans, including Christian Health Ministries, are an alternative to traditional health insurance that offer a faith-based approach to managing medical expenses. These plans may offer limited coverage and members have a set amount they are financially responsible for before the plan starts sharing costs.
Health Savings Account (HSA)
If you have an HSA eligible plan, you can open and contribute to a tax deductible HSA account which can then be used to offset a myriad of medical expenses. You own the account and can rollover the unused funds year to year while continuing to build your savings for as long as you’re on an HSA eligible plan.
